June 2019 Updates, Goals
After several months of house projects and doctor’s appointments and more appointments and travel and anniversaries and birthdays, here’s June, sitting pretty wide open. I’m looking forward to a few quiet weeks before going out of town again!
Writing Updates
As mentioned last time, I really needed a vacation, so I took one. It was kind of a messy, on-off thing. I can’t even tell you how many days it lasted. But I tell you what, I was excited to get back into things after a while. That’s when I knew I was ready. The Book 3 draft is now up to 63K words in 13 chapters.
Current Goals
Well-rounded Latin practice. The Latin immersion seminar is only a month away! I just received the readings and itinerary we’ll be following. For the whole week, I won’t be able to speak anything but Latin with the other participants. Thank goodness dictionaries are allowed at all times! This will be taking place at a small, quiet college in the middle of my state. I went to a much bigger college in the center of a bustling urban environment, so it’ll be interesting to have a taste of something much different to my experience.
Being a good Stoic. I don’t have much by way of anecdote this month, but I do have a really cool Marcus Aurelius quote we can all benefit from. Also, I highly recommend you spend some time in Nature when you can. Make friends with trees, birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer, or whomever or whatever else passes by.
Listening to German. Not much new here, just trying to keep up with it when I can.
Civic engagement. I voted in the recent primary election, and I helped out at another voter registration event this month. With my Latin seminar coming up, I’ll be taking a break from those events for a few months.
Take care and see you next month! :)
